Jeremy Buck & The Bang, the rock trio that sounds like a 12-piece and hits like a cannon ball, is taking their jaw-dropping live show on tour in support of their new CD Fools Gold. Dubbed, "The band you must see before they hit it big," Jeremy Buck & The Bang have polished their irresistible sound at countless gigs in Los Angeles, the Mid-West, and Japan.
While the band's pure energy sucks people in, it's ultimately Buck's finely-crafted original songs that keep the crowd hooked. It's not unusual to hear things like, "I love that song! Who did that originally?" or, "Why aren't these guys on the radio?" Perhaps because of their limitless passion, there's a sense that these guys are new. But Jeremy Buck & The Bang is not an overnight success. With Jeremy Buck & The Bang fans demanding more and Buck's collection of songs swelling into the hundreds, the band set about recording their new CD Fools Gold. Some of the songs were written just for the album and some were written years ago in Indiana and later in Buck's Hollywood apartment on an archaic 4-track recording machine. But they all shared the thread of Buck's musical aspirations and the journey that brought him to the point of recording a life-changing new CD. Said Buck of the process, "We wanted to strip down our sound from Secret and just play it like a rock trio. It sounds like a simple process, stripping your sound, but in a lot of ways it was just as difficult as mastering the complex arrangements from the first CD."
In addition to simplifying the music, Buck strove to make Fools Gold a story that people could follow from beginning to end. "We wanted people to take in Fools Gold as a whole. Hopefully, everyone finds themself someplace new when it's over." To help the band achieve the vibe they wanted, they enlisted the skills of legendary mix-master Kevin "Caveman" Shirley at the Document Room in Malibu, CA. Kevin has worked with an impressive list of artists including Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Metallica, Bon Jovi, and Iron Maiden.
Jeremy Buck's songs have an intangible quality that makes them instant rock classics. His approach to songwriting is different than that of the modern crop of bands. In commercial rock songs you hit the chorus and then begin your descent. Jeremy Buck & The Bang have another level somewhere beyond the chorus. It's the kind of high that cookie-cutter rock bands can't touch. In pushing through to this next level Jeremy Buck & The Bang break clear of sterile commercial categories. Their place is their own.
